WV Arbor Day 2018
West Virginia Arbor Day was celebrated on Friday, April 13th @ 10 am in Jackson Park, Vienna. We planted a “Pin Oak” tree on the westside of Pond Run that was donated by Scots Landscape. We also had cake & refreshments in the City Building following the planting. Thank you to both WV Department of Forestry, (Maple) and Scots Landscape, (Pin Oak), for their generous donations of the trees.
Robert Hannah, State Urban & Forestry Coordinator, presented our Forester, Jack Mathers, Mayor Rapp, and the Tree & Beautification members with metal “Tree City USA” signs to install around the City. It is a big honor for the City of Vienna to be an active member of Tree City, USA, and we have been for over 10 years.
The Tree & Beautification Commission meets every month and is very active keeping our City, “Healthy and beautiful “. We will continue to serve our residents and have free Workshops, on many different topics. The Commission has already hosted two in 2018, “Proper Pruning, Insects, & Diseases with Trees “and “Trees and Law”.
