The 1st “Falling Leaves Festival at Spencer Park” was held Saturday, October 10th, 2015 from 9am-6pm in the City of Vienna’s Spencer Park. The new craft show was created by Tom Riddle and the North Parkersburg Kiwanis. It was an honor to have the Kiwanis International WV District Governor, John Kyle, with us all day. The City of Vienna was the host along with generous donations from Aaron’s, Foodland, Seita Satellite Communications, and Shirt Tales.
The ROTC from Parkersburg High School Color Guard started the event at 9:05am presenting the “National Anthem”. Everyone enjoyed the Dog & Pony demonstration and the Katoga Dancers along with the live bands: “Charlie’s Horse” and “Band of Brothers. There were 15 craft vendors, at least 50 cars at the show, hosted by the Pioneer Antique Car Club at Neale Elementary School. The attendance for this premier event was pretty good but we hope we can grow for years to come. Aaron’s rental donated two 70 inch TV’s that connected with the Seita Satellite Communications to watch great college football games. Everyone had an amazing time listening to the live bands and watching the acts along with walking around looking at all the different crafts that were made.
Thank you to all those from Key Clubs at Parkersburg and South High School spending all day helping out and also to the Director of Parks and Recreation, Norm Harris and his staff. We want to give a special Thank-you, to all the members of North Parkersburg Kiwanis Club and the Holly Days Pageant royalty under the direction of Wendi Williams. We hope everyone had a wonderful experience and we hope to see you there again next year!
