Jackson Memorial Park
You can easily find Jackson Park from Grand Central Avenue by traveling down 34th Street or from Rosemar Road. Jackson Park has a large community building, swings and other equipment for kids to play on, a swimming pool, tennis and basketball courts, baseball and softball fields, picnic areas and even a train caboose!
There’s one more thing that most parks don’t have that sets Jackson Park above everyone else….a 1950’s fighter jet! Visit our Gallery to check it out among other pictures as well.
McDonough Wildlife Refuge
Directly across from Jackson Park on Rosemar Road is the entrance to the McDonough Wildlife Refuge. The refuge is a 277-acre wildlife area, managed by the Vienna Department of Parks and Recreation. The park is open from dawn till dusk 7 days a week.
You may see many different types of wildlife including: white-tailed deer, turkey, red and gray fox, and coyote. Migratory waterfowl inhabit two ponds within the refuge. All trails are clearly marked and easy to follow.
Special attractions: Deer, turkeys, geese and ducks.
Located on 28th Street in Vienna, Spencer Park is neighbor to the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department. Spencer park is home to the Ice Cream Social, Rib and Jazz festival, as well as other family oriented events which are held there each year. The park also includes a basketball court and a playground area accompanied by shelters and a newly constructed gazebo to offer some shade from the sun for a mid-day snack. Feel free to allow the kids to play while you stay cool. Our parks are open 7 days a week from dawn to dusk.
